Privacy at Smeta
Your data stays
under your control.
Smeta is designed around private, on-device financial tracking, with optional iCloud sync and optional remote AI import.
Overview
Smeta is built to help you track income, spending, accounts, and balances. Your financial data should stay under your control.
Data You Add
The app stores the accounts, transactions, categories, names, notes, currencies, settings, and exchange rates you add on your device. Raw information is used only to show your balances, reports, and search results. If you explicitly allow remote AI import, Smeta can send a de-identified structural pattern that contains no raw transaction values, names, notes, account numbers, merchants, exact dates, or exact amounts, as described below.
iCloud Sync
iCloud sync is optional. When it is enabled, your app data is synced through your private iCloud account so it can be available on your devices. You can turn iCloud sync off in Settings at any time.
Import and Export
You can import transaction files and export CSV files. Exported files contain the data you choose to export, so handle them carefully and share them only with people or services you trust. If local parsing needs help and you explicitly allow Remote AI Import, Smeta may send generated column labels and a de-identified structural pattern derived from up to 12 rows directly to one or more of these third-party AI providers: Qwen (Alibaba Cloud), Kimi (Moonshot AI), and Perplexity. The pattern indicates structural features such as empty cells, date-like or numeric values, signs, and repeated text, but contains no raw headers, transaction values, names, notes, account numbers, merchants, exact dates, or exact amounts. Providers return column-role suggestions; Smeta uses those suggestions only to import the file.
Protection and Retention
User-added accounts and associated transactions remain on your device until you delete them in the app. If iCloud Sync is enabled, you can delete Smeta’s private iCloud data by choosing Settings › iCloud › Turn Off and Delete iCloud Data. Remote AI Import requests are sent directly from the app to Qwen, Kimi, or Perplexity without being routed through a Smeta-operated server. A provider may retain a request and response under its applicable terms and privacy policy. Contact Support for questions about available deletion options.
Your Choices and Deletion
Remote AI Import is off until you explicitly allow it. You can revoke consent at any time by choosing Settings › AI Import › Turn Off Remote AI Import. This stops future requests but cannot recall requests already sent. You can delete an account and its associated transactions in Settings › Accounts. For questions or requests about your privacy rights or deletion options, choose Settings › Contact Support or email andrei@gaivoronskii.com. Do not include transaction details.
No Selling or Tracking
Smeta does not sell your data, does not use advertising tracking, and does not collect your transactions for marketing. When you update exchange rates, the app may request public rates from an exchange-rate provider using currency codes only.
Updates
If this policy changes, the updated version will be shown in the app. Continuing to use Smeta after an update means the new version applies.
